The Choy Lai Fut Martial Arts Hall is dedicated to teaching martial arts and self defence skills to children and adults of all abilities and backgrounds. In particular, we specialize in a very unique martial art called Choy Lai Fut (aka Choyleefut) which is a kungfu system that originated in southern China.

You have come to the right place if you are looking for a traditional, non-competitive, family-oriented, and supportive place to learn kungfu and self defence -- we believe in getting to know our students and their personal learning objectives, so that we can help each person expand beyond their current boundaries.

Our instructors are both women who have trained formally as disciples of Grandmaster Wong Ha, and have a collective 43 years of experience both studying kungfu as well as teaching. We believe that all women CAN and SHOULD learn martial arts, not just for self defence purposes, but also to gain confidence and a new respect for themselves.

At the moment, we're preparing for the months ahead -- there are a couple of lion dance performances already booked, and of course we're looking forward to seeing everyone again at the annual Choy Lee Fut Federation of Canada banquet in August.

January 25, 2007 - Ok, so we've been a little busier than we thought. However, we did manage to put up a couple of photo albums to share with everyone:

  • Jo si daan 2006 (anniversary banquet dinner and performance)
  • Lion dance performance for our friends' wedding - these were from a while back but we never did have a chance to put these up on the web. It was a particularly difficult performance as there was very little room to do the lion dance in, but the team pulled through with flying colours!

We're in the midst of preparing for Chinese New Year performances and of course the parade in Chinatown. Don't miss out on the parade, it'll be on Feb 18th (Sunday), beginning at noon -- although all students and helpers at the parade will need to assemble earlier at 10:30am. We'll have more details for you later as you come into class.
