OUR PROGRAMS:
The Traditional Program
The traditional program is offered to two different groups:
1) Adults & Youth (13+)
2) Kids (12 and under) & Family
What's Involved
This program will start with the basics of the Choy Lai Fut system, and then
progress into various traditional fist forms and weaponry. Students will
be given a very solid foundation that will enable them to progress into the
Sparring and Lion Dance programs.
Classes will begin with warm up, horse stance
training, and group exercises, followed by training in various forms. This
is the only program where weaponry will be taught. Weapons we may cover include the broad
sword, double broad swords, staff, spear, double-edged sword, daggers, fan,
tiger fork, and horse bench (we have other weapons as well, which are introduced
only at very advanced levels).
Adults & Youth (13+)
If you are interested in improving your fitness level, whether it be in flexibility,
stamina, or strength, this is the ideal program. Our exercises and horse stance
training may appear to be quite grueling to newcomers, but we insist on developing
a good traditional foundation for all of our students.
We have taught students
of all shapes, sizes, and abilities in the past, and know that regardless
of your background or physical stature, you should be able to progress satisfactorily
in our program. You WILL develop a healthier mind and body through hard work and
training. In fact, many students have come with no other training whatsoever,
and these "ex-couch potatoes" have actually developed impressive physiques
through traditional training!
Kids (12 and under) & Family
Get your whole family involved! One way to ease young children into a martial arts program
is to have the parents training alongside them to give them added support. Parents
are also usually fairly busy as it is, and may find it difficult to fit regular exercise
into the daily routine. This family-oriented program is great for those who want to
combine the need for physical exercise and quality time with the kids. Here classes are taught
at a comfortable pace.
If the parents are unable to take part and would like their children to participate alone in classes,
this is also the best place to have them enrolled.
